History
Verzasca is a municipality created in 2021 by merging the villages of the valley bearing its name, famous for the emerald waters of its river and for the Ponte dei Salti in Lavertezzo, a 17th-century double humpback bridge. Its territory also holds the Contra Dam, made famous by bungee jumping and the opening scene of the James Bond film GoldenEye. Stone villages and mountain pastures follow one another along the whole valley, one of the wildest in Ticino.
