History
Tresa is a municipality created in 2021 in the Malcantone, taking its name from the Tresa river, which drains Lake Lugano toward Lake Maggiore. It includes Ponte Tresa, a historic border crossing between Switzerland and Italy for centuries. Its vine-covered hills and chestnut woods reflect the typical landscape of the Malcantone.
