History

Serravalle, in the upper Val di Blenio, includes Lottigna, for centuries the valley's chief town and seat of the Palazzo Pretorio, where bailiffs sent by the sovereign cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Nidwalden resided. The 16th-century building, frescoed with the bailiffs' coats of arms, today houses the Blenio Valley Museum. Stone villages, frescoed churches and chestnut woods still mark the municipal territory.

Villages

This municipality was formed by merging several historic villages, each with its own postal code.
