History
Formed by the merger of the old villages of the Onsernone valley, including Comologno, Russo and Loco, the municipality keeps the memory of an economy once based on straw-plaiting for hat-making, exported across Europe. The stone houses huddled together, the bridges and mule tracks speak of both the isolation and the industriousness of this side valley of the Maggia. Even today, lacking major roads, the valley retains an almost untouched landscape.
