Mezzovico-Vira

History

Formed by the merger of the villages of Mezzovico and Vira, the municipality stretches through the Vedeggio valley, between the cultivated plain and the first foothills of Monte Ceneri. Farming, once the area's main activity, has gradually given way to a mixed residential and light-industrial fabric. Its proximity to the Gotthard transit route has long made it a place of passage.
