Mergoscia

History

Clinging to a slope above the Vogorno reservoir, Mergoscia looks over the Verzasca valley not far from the famous Contra dam, made famous by bungee jumping and film scenes. The small stone hamlet, rebuilt after a landslide struck the original village in the 18th century, keeps the tight-knit atmosphere typical of Verzasca villages. From its lanes the view stretches over the turquoise waters of the lake and the mountains enclosing the valley.
