Melide

History

On the narrow strip of land dividing Lake Lugano into two basins, Melide is known for the long causeway that has linked the two shores since 1849 and for the Swissminiatur park, where all of Switzerland is reproduced in miniature. The church of Santi Fedele e Simone, with its valuable fresco cycle, testifies to the village's former religious importance. Once a stop for fishermen and boatmen, the village now lives on lakeside tourism.
