History
On the edge of Ascona, in the Maggia river plain, Losone is today one of the most populous municipalities in the Locarno region while still keeping a historic core around its parish church. The Gole della Maggia, with natural pools carved into the rock by the river, have long been a favorite swimming spot for generations of locals. The municipality is also home to Locarno's regional airport, facing the Magadino plain.
