History
Lavertezzo is the heart of the Verzasca valley, famous for the Ponte dei Salti, a 17th-century double-arched stone bridge spanning the river's turquoise waters. The smooth-worn rocks and crystal-clear pools of the river draw large numbers of visitors every summer, while the village still keeps clusters of stone houses typical of the valley's architecture. Community life here was long shaped by isolation and by the floods that periodically struck the torrent.
