Dalpe

History

Perched on a sunny terrace above Faido, Dalpe is known for its granite quarries, a prized stone also used in regional public works, including the portal of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. The village, with its stone houses and slab roofs, overlooks the Leventina valley from a scenic spot reached by a steep mountain road. The pastures of the Alpe di Dalpe above the village recall the area's traditional alpine farming economy.
