History
Perched above 1,500 meters, Bosco Gurin is Ticino's highest village and the canton's only German-speaking settlement, founded in the 13th century by Walser colonists from Valais. Its inhabitants have preserved to this day the Töitschu dialect and old building traditions, visible in the weathered timber houses. The valley's isolation helped preserve this identity, unique in the Ticino landscape.
