History
Formed in 2013 from the merger of Bedigliora, Curio, Miglieglia and Sessa, the municipality of Alto Malcantone brings together some of the region's oldest villages, amid chestnut groves and ridges overlooking Lake Lugano. For centuries the Malcantone was a land of emigrant craftsmen and traveling artists, known as magistri, who practiced their trades across Europe. Its stone hamlets and forest paths still preserve this rural memory today.
Villages
This municipality was formed by merging several historic villages, each with its own postal code.
