History
Formed in 2004 through the merger of villages in the upper Blenio Valley around Comprovasco, Acquarossa takes its name from the iron-rich springs that once fed the village's thermal baths. Surrounded by forests and alpine pastures, the valley has for centuries been a route of seasonal cattle transhumance toward the Lukmanier pass. Its stone hamlets still bear witness to the old rural economy of the Blenio Valley.
Villages
This municipality was formed by merging several historic villages, each with its own postal code.
